John de Graaf

John de Graaf has been producing documentaries for PBS for 40 years.  Fifteen have been broadcast nationally in prime time on PBS.  He is the recipient of more than 100 regional, national and international filmmaking awards, including one named for him, The John de Graaf Environmental Filmmaking Award presented annually at the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in Nevada City, California.  He is the co-author of the international best-seller, Affluenza: The All-Consuming Epidemic, Take Back Your Time, and What’s the Economy For, Anyway?, and has written for the NY Times and dozens of other publications.  He was the co-founder of Take Back Your Time, The Happiness Alliance, and most recently, And Beauty for All.  He is a popular speaker on college campuses and conferences in the U.S. and internationally.  He is a board member of Earth Island Institute, a Fellow of the Academy of Leisure Studies of the United States, and was recently named an “Outstanding Alumnus” of the University of Wisconsin–Superior.  He lives in Seattle.
