Mary Rickert

District 3 Board Supervisor, Shasta County Board of Supervisors

A 42 year resident of Shasta County, Mary has lived near McArthur since 1988. She attended California Polytechnic State University as a Dairy Science major and holds degrees in Business & Human Resources Management and Psychology from Simpson University. She is co-owner, with her husband Jim, of Western Agricultural Services, a farm management, appraisal and real estate brokerage firm. They are also the majority owners of Prather Ranch, a nationally recognized, vertically integrated beef cattle operation. Mary and her husband Jim have three grown children and five grandchildren.

Mary has been an active volunteer in her community for many years, serving on the Shasta County Mental Health, Alcohol & Drug Advisory Board, the Shasta Regional Community Foundation, and the Farm Service Agency County Committee. In 2013 she was appointed to the State Board of Forestry and Fire Protection and served as the Range/Livestock representative until 2016.

Mary has a diverse background and experience in the area of agriculture, the timber industry and mental health. Her desire to improve local communities brings to the board her belief that the county must operate with fiscal responsibility, while maintaining a commitment to serve the needs of her constituents. Mary’s primary areas of interest are to improve public safety, streamline access to mental health and substance abuse services, and curb homelessness in Shasta County. Her strong background and passion for agriculture and forestry serve her well as the representative for District 3.
