CARCD’s 75th Annual Conference
“The Future of a Resilient California Starts Here: Celebrating 75 Years of Local Resource Conservation and Beyond”
The California Association of Resource Conservation Districts (CARCD) will host its 75th Annual Conference in beautiful Santa Barbara at the Hilton Beachfront Resort from Tuesday, November 17 to Friday, November 20, 2020. The theme will be “The Future of a Resilient California Starts Here: Celebrating 75 Years of Local Resource Conservation and Beyond”. Thank you to the Cachuma Resource Conservation District (RCD) for generously co-hosting this year’s conference.
In recognition of the 75th landmark anniversary, practitioners, scientists, and the public will come together to reflect on California’s long history of environmental conservation and look to the future to envision how the state can build momentum as a conservation leader nationally and internationally. CARCD will bring together representatives from federal and state agencies, non-profits, private industries, farming communities, and Resource Conservation Districts (RCDs) to celebrate successes and address urgent challenges including climate-smart agriculture, the tree mortality crisis, community fire resilience, sustainable groundwater management, watershed health, social equity in conservation, and wildlife preservation.
The CARCD Annual Conference provides a unique opportunity to connect directly with RCDs, which are recognized as the go-to hubs for conservation and have been implementing voluntary, locally-led conservation on public and private lands since 1937. Meaningful progress will require a collaborative scaling up of solutions to these challenges, and we invite you to join us as we plan for the future.
