ICE CREAM SOCIAL HELD IN ELK CREEK, CA ATTRACTS 120+ TO PROMOTE WILDFIRE

AWARENESS AND MEET FIRST RESPONDERS

GLENN COUNTY, Calif. – Glenn County Resource Conservation District (RCD), Elk Creek
Volunteer Fire Department, Tehama-Glenn Firesafe Council and its partners held an "Ice Cream
Social - Wildfire Awareness & Meet Your Partners" event in Elk Creek, CA on Friday, June 14 th
at the Elk Creek High School Football Field. Event organizers thank the partners and community
for attending!


This annual outdoor event, first held in 2019 with almost 100 attendees, has grown to over 120
attendees. This year’s event also honored Flag Day with a special presentation by Martin
Spannaus, RCD’s Fuels Reduction and Fire Prevention Education Program Coordinator.
The goal is to connect the public with first responders in the Elk Creek community and to bring
people together in a positive atmosphere. Attendees shared thoughts and ideas around wildfire
prevention projects and had opportunities to ask questions and talk to local agencies and
partners.


Participants at the fun evening enjoyed vanilla, chocolate or strawberry ice cream from Yum
Yum’s located in Willows. Partners involved in making this event a huge success included:
